Nice! I've been searching for a decent quadcopter to experiment with...

1. What quadcopter are you using?
2. What camera is set up with it? Do you control it separately, or is it part of the RC controls?
3. My biggest question...what happens if you run out of batteries and it lands in the water? How long can you fly/film for?

Hi
Im using a Dgi f 450 with a go pro , mount direct on the frame, no gimbal or stabilysed system. I use the timer on my tx to make sure im not running out of batteries. , Flight time is about 8 min. with 20 t0 30% left in batteries .

That was really cool. Are you controlling it from within the boat? Nice wave and surfing too.

Aren't you afraid of it sinking?

That's cool, can you post a picture of the camera mounted on the copter?

Looks like you can get into one of these quadcopters, ready-to-fly with remote, for about $1600 - http://aerialmediapros.com/store/pro...roducts_id=151

The total flight time is what's held me off from purchasing one (hopefully that we'll see these numbers double/triple in the next few years?), along with the fact that my assumption is that if you land this in the water, it's TOAST!

Still, this is VERY cool!!!

AR Drone top speed without GoPro attached = 11mph (so if you surf over 11mph or want to do fly-by's, etc, not possible)

DJI F450 top speed with GoPro attached = 45mph

Mine cost me 400.00$ without the remote and you can get a good remote for around 300.00$, than you will need couples batteries and a charger, I plug mine directly in the boat, it take15 min to recharge, so with two batteries you can almost fly one after the others.

This one is a 550 (hexacopter) so it's bigger and less stable in hi winds, i have one to, but preffer my 450 , faster and it's less expansive....http://www.rc-drones.com/dji-450-ARF-NAZA.php
