I just bought a wakeboard tower for my boat. The only problem is that it is powder coated blue and my boat is red. I was wondering if i could just paint over the blue or if i should sand it off and then try and paint it. I was told that i should just get it powder coated red becuase the paint wont hold up on the aluminum but i would like to save some monry and do it my self. Any thoughts?

take it and have it sand blasted, then re-powdercoated. - white and black are the cheapest because they run those colors the most.

Yes I believe you can sand it and paint it.

If you're looking to save some cash I would recommend aircraft paint stripper. I did this to my tower to strip off old powder coat before having it re done. It took about 3-4 hours mostly just waiting on the stripper to start peeling.
