I think correct craft started using V drives around 86 or so.

Hmm I think we where talking about a comp boat. V drives are ancient but watersport specefic boats are not. The 2 CC don't aperar to have ski tow bars or rear facing seats mirrors etc.

Like I said everyone thinks they were the "first" The boats pictured were based on the same hull as CC's "comp" boats. They were used by barefooters. And hmmm both boats had rear facing seats and tow eyes. Don't think it was until very recently (mid nineties)that v-drives were in competetion.

So these are the same hulls as the 1989 V drive Barefoot Nauty?

Kevin You apparently know all, I'll let you keep thinking that. I dont get involved in circular arguments that are not logical.

Ouch? Circular? Not logical? My last post was a simple question. I footed behind the dd and V Barefoot Nauty at barefoot tournaments. I had no idea that CC built that same hull for over 20 years

nope, both of those boats are classified as soft-ride deep v's by cc. they are both 16 footers. ask me how i know. i'm not sure if they ever used that hull in competition.

I've always like the looks of the Nautique Excel. I've never been in one or behind one so I can't say if they meet the criteria of your search for the first "competition watersports V-drive". I also don't want to get involved in any circular (or polygonal for that matter) arguments, be them logical or illogical.

The Excel and the Barefoot Nautique are the same hull and have a world class barefoot wake. You also have to watch out for the infamous square argument.

Trace what goes around comes around......oops that is circular in nature. Thomas do you have a picture of the back of the boat showing the hull? Like this shot of the Barefoot Nauty

Centurion 1986 V drive. Nauty V drive Barefoot boats 1989. At least that was the First V drive that showed up at tournaments. If you are going to use the first boat that was actually used at a tournamnet I would say the V drive NAuty would be the frist. I am not sure the 1996 V drive Centurion was actually used at tournaments. (Message edited by krbaugh on June 01, 2004)

Wow!! Kevin you circled the wagons twice but your last post was the best. Had to read it three times and still don't understand what you said. "If you are going to use the first boat that was actually used at a tournement (sp) I would say the V Drive NAUTIQUE (not NAuty)would be the first." Thanks for so eloquently proving my circular argument statement, and I didn't have to say a word. (Message edited by dfish on June 01, 2004) (Message edited by dfish on June 01, 2004)

Dan I knew I could suck you back in Of course like I said it all depends on your definition of a comp boat. Lighten up Dan (Message edited by krbaugh on June 01, 2004)

Kevin My apologies, it was a long weekend. Did more damage to my new boat in one weekend than all my other boats combined. Busted the trailer winch (DHM admited problem), had my surfboard blown out of my hand and centerpunch the playpen vinyl, rub rail rubbed through the carpet on the bow stops (DHM admitted problem)scratched keel and f up the rubrail, and my wife was so busy entertaing friends she forgot boats and docks should not meet, especially in 40 knot winds. So much for the much hated Nautique tape--not much left. Whew All this to say our points are similar: their is almost always more than one "first." (Message edited by dfish on June 01, 2004)

although i really hate to jump in here... is it just me, or does that Torino say "COMPETITION SKI BOAT" on the transom? regardless of your definition of a comp boat, i think it's clear what CC intended on that 1969 model, and that's a few years prior to Centurion's 86 model. JMHO.

No problem Ken hope you don't have to much damage. We just watched the white caps from the window for the most part. Trace Lots of manufactures put lots of things on there boats. Until this year Every Centurion said world championship tow boat on them. I guarantee you that every Centurion model has not pulled a world championship. Just because it says "COMPETITION SKI BOAT" does not mean that that model ever pulled a tournament. Like I said depends on the definition.

alright , i gets the idea. yeah, centurions say world championship towboats on the back, my 04 p.o.s. sport does, and im still waiting for the "champion" to get here. however, it has pulled 3 very happy little kids more than once, so im convinced.
