Hey guys i was hoping for some feedback on a 2002 moomba outback. im a beginner when it comes to wakeboarding. i plan on wakeboarding alot and was wondering if this boat can produce a good wake to where if i progress i will have the wake i need per say. we found a boat with a tower, racks, system, portable ballast, and its super clean for 20k. so if anyone has any expeirence on any kind of advice i would greatly appriciate it.

Brian-

Here's how I'd break it down: Do you have any other options that are comparable? Are you looking for a pro tour wake? Can you spare more money for a boat or for more fat sacs?

I'm not sure if it's a d-drive or a v-drive model but either way you should be able to get a decent wake with the addition of the portable ballast.

Check the archives as there is a good post here:

The Moomba Outback is a good entry level boat. It's not going to throw pro tour sized wakes but it should get the job done for you. It sounds like you found a nice one with a tower, racks, system, etc. Good luck!

How about a brand new Moomba LS for $34,500.00
Its in houston.
Contact your local dealer - they are having a closeout on them.

The Outback will throw a decent wake when it's weighted properly. I have an 05 and typically run 1,100 to 1,500lbs of ballast. The wake gets plenty big enough to throw any trick you can think of. I've had people throw several different inverts with less ballast behind my boat. My only complaint with the boat is the low freeboard. When it's weighted down and we are stopped, it's easy to take on some water from other peoples wakes. It's a great boat for a beginner.
