I'm looking for some advice from some of the I/O guys out there. Would you run a 19 or 17 pitch mercury high five ss prop if you were planning on loading the boat to capacity with a combination of ballast and people. I have a 20' Sea Ray if that helps. Thanks in advance for the help.

I would get a High 5 in the pitch of your current prop. If you're running 19 in a 3 blade, stick with 19. If you're dropping the cash on a High 5, wherever you're buying it from will probably let you try it out and return it if you want a different pitch.

If you use the boat for wakeboarding and weight it down nearly all the time, error on the side of a lower pitch prop. Both will probably get you on plane, but the lower pitch will be able to maintain speed with fewer throttle adjustments. I have heard of guys running 12 and 13 pitch props.

If you cruise a fair amount, go with the 19.

....I agree with lower pitch if your truly gonna load her up. If your the type just to be happy with alittle weight and some people then dont change much. But if you love boarding and think your your gonna keep loading her down to see what she will do.....then I would go even lower in pitch and you dont need to spend all that money on a 5 blade. On my old boat I went from a 19 to an 11.....which was extreme .....but boy was she tweaked for boarding.......would hold 18mph without constant adjustment, fully overloaded
