Is there any tricks to dealing with scratches in powder coated items? I do apply wax to my Illusion tower several times a season to help with bug clean-up but not sure if you can treat powder coating like regualar paint ? Im assuming you just cant hit it with a rubbing compound and buff back to a shine with wax or polish but not really sure ?

For bad scratches theres not a whole lot you can do. The best thing I have done is have my local auto paint shop tint me a quart of touch up to match and then use clear nail polish to seal it. You can polish it lightly but powder coat should not really fade much.

My windshield has black powdercoat that is scratched up and needs to be redone. Any idea on what a fair cost is for this work? Do car body shops do this type of repair? Or what type of business does this repair (other than the boat dealer who will subcontract it at top dollar)?

Look in your yellow pages for powdercoat shops. It would be cheaper for you to remove the frame and take it to them, might be a good idea to have the whole thing done at the same time. Shouldn't cost more than $100 or so for them to sandblast and re-coat it.
