I found this used boat on the internet and consider buying it. The dealership claims it to be a 2003 x-star but I got confused since it does not have the x-star logo anywhere on it. Is he telling the truth? Your help will be appreciated.

Yep, it's real. When they came out with the current X-Star they weren't sure what they were going to call the old one, so they ended up just putting X-Series on the side, and then it became the X-2, and eventually the X-1. They should be officially done with name changes, but that's the real deal.

And, Liquid Sports Marine is a great dealer!

Load it up and you have one of the best wakes ever made, IMO...

Liquid is my dealer as well, and they are wonderful to deal with.

This boat is actually an '03 X2 with "X-Series" stickers on it. The 2003 X-Star was re-designed for 2003 with the pickel forked front end that we see today. This boat is most likely a 2003 X2 (old X-star hull) with the "X-Series" stickers on it.

I am so confused. X star then X-2 and now X-1. What does the X stand for. Don't tell me Xtreme.

Single axles trailers are fine for towing. Doubles are better but singles are good.

single axel are easier to manuever!!! no way I could put a double in my garage. (something to think about)
Cant go wrong with that dealership!!

I have an 04 with a single axle trailer. Tows superbly because the boat and trailer are matched. It needs a spare tire/wheel from what I can see. My trailer came with Goodyear Marathon tires, the best available. The S/A trailer manuevers much better than the D/A.

The picklefork XStar came out late for a 03.
The boat in the pic was the same boat as a 02 Xstar. MC just called it X Series in early 03 until the picklefork came out, then it became X2.
Its only a sticker.
Wakeshoe, Duffy your right I checked out NADA values on the 03 X2 vs. 03 21' Wakesetter. The MC was worth $5500.00 more!! Before you start to bash me, I did'nt come up with the figures NADA did. I believe the boats were the same price to begin with as well.
Whats wrong with the trailer? Looks fine to me, single axles are much easier to handle. The boat only weighs 3200lbs at the most.

I have towed my 05 X-2 w/ single axle trailer over 300 miles and no issues. For that size boat, you dont need a tandem axle trailer.

You don't but if you get a flat on the freeway,it can be trouble! With the tandem,it takes the worry out plus you can load your boat up when going on a camping trip.

Just carry a spare tire, single axle will suffice..

example I've seen a 06 X-2 on a triple axle trailer.... (scratching head) I thought those were for 30-40' powerboats and express cruisers....

I've had a flat on a tandem before. Unless they make em different now, the flat one will still drop and ride on the rim. My tandem was 1984 vintage.

Not to change the subject, but I had the studs break out of a brand new x-1 single axle trailer. It busted the hub, wheel, and tire. When I went to the MC plant, they told me they had several warranty claims on the single axle, especially from 02 to 04. They thought they had the problem fixed, but apparently not.

Remember all little parts like that are normally bought from a sub-manufacturer... thus warranty claims are beyond the control of MC we flaws....

MC fixes them because the trailer bears their name... such as Bosch or Magna producing parts for car manufacturers. If they havea bad run of 300,000 parts... 300,000 cars from VW, GM, etc will have issues as well..

So you have a single axle in the back of your truck... if you studs beak or you get a flat tire what do you do? Fix it or go buy a daul axle truck to mitigate against gettin one flat.

Joel,no it won't do that as it is torsion bars and not leaf springs. You can literally take the tire of and ride 3 wheel motion.
