Do u do this? and are you concerned about the prop being exposed? I noticed some guys profile pic wakesurfing behind a I/O and was scared just seeing it.

That is worse than watching videos of wakeboarders not wearing a life jacket, and almost as wreckless

Glad I clicked on this page before someone posts "the photo" of what happens when you wakesurf behind an i/o

I learned behind a I/O. I still have all my fingers and toes. we had a massive swim platform though. I am not saying it is a 100% safe.

Wakesurfing behind an I/O is up there with wakeskating/boarding without a vest, catching 9 innings without a cup, riding a motorcycle without a helmet, or visiting Vegas without a condom. Sure you'll be fine the large majority of the time, but sooner or later something real bad is going to happen...

Jim

USA Wakeboard is the national governing body for the sport of wakesurf in the US. We consider wakesurfing behind I/O or outboard dangerous. We will not sanction events and will deny liability and medical coverage if I/O or outboard is used at wakesurf events. This is covered with the USA Water Ski and USA Wakeboard trained drivers program.

I would say wakesurfing behind an I/O is the worst thing you can ever do behind a boat.

Did it once, went through some rollers and saw the prop from 5 feet behind the boat on a surfboard. Stupid idea, never do it.

I think this is one of those times that it's okay to use a blanket statement: no.

hey jim spearing, if you're speaking of anthemwake's profile pic, i'm pretty sure he posts it for shock effect, it being the picture with a tube on the swim platform (as a shield ??), a spotter drinking beer, and so on.

^^^^ "and so on" being Anthemwake himself holding a beer AS he wakesurfs haha.

if you're gonna wakesurf behind an i/o, that tube shield thing he's got goin on isn't a bad idea actually. you'd never catch me wakesurfing behind an i/o though
