So I am still having trouble making myself do this on the tramp. I really want this trick.. Everytime I try I dont get the full rotation and end up doing some crazy kind of tanny to blind. Any suggestions would be mucho appreciated.

With that said, any help with all tricks on the tramp would be appreciated. Does anyone have video with slow-mo explanations of doing tricks on the tramp? At 33 I no longer have the 'I'll try anything' attitude and like to enter into activities with a fair idea of what to do as opposed to just hucking it. I usually end up in a cast when I huck it :-)

If you can do a trampoline-tantrum (a squared up backflip with the handle) you should be able to do a trampoline-whirly. Think about just doing the tantrum, but bring the handle up and get your arm (bicep) across your face as you're beginning the flip. This will put some tension in the rope and will initiate the overhead rotation. No video, sorry, the landlord made me remove my trampoline.

I was having troubles with this also, until I did 2 things. The first was do with only 1 hand on the rope, this helped get my body in a better position to start the spin. And 2 which really helped me on the water was get so I could do my tantrum but carry forward like a gainer. Try to master these before going for the Whirly.

Hey Loren I am there with you. Born in the year of 74 and I am going to land a Whirly Bird this year.

Skiing made me board,

Why I do is I look to the opposite shoulder of the lead hand and use my shoulders and hands to complete the spin while upside down. So here is what goes on:

Get a high bounce or at least a comfortable bounce so you can do backflips with time to spare.

Use your shoulders and arms to initiate the spin and try to bring your lead hand across your face while going in a backflip motion.

Keep your body position and let your arms and shoulders carry the spin throughout the trick.

Land with your knees bent and absorb the landing.
