I am putting new shoes on my trailer (2000 Metal Craft) I put the new shoes on… drum will not go back on… the adjustment is all the way closed I had the drum turned today it helped but will still only go ¾ of the way on. I picked up the shoes at the local auto parts store they are identical looking to the ones I pulled… is there a trailer specific shoe with a thinner surface? I can turn the drum some more but it is still going to rub I would think… what do you think guys?

Thanks

Steve

I think maybe the new shoes may have been cast a little off. Try getting what you need from a trailer supply.

Steve, try a different brand of linings or have those re-surfaced down to what you think will clear the drum. You don't want to turn the drum down if you can avoid it.

Have you opened the bleeder on the wheel cylinder to allow the wheel cylinder to collapse and reset to the new shoes?

Thanks for the help guys! I pulled the other shoes out of the box and realized one of the one’s I put on was way to thick they must have screwed up when they manufactured it… good ol Mexico!
