I am looking for some good RCA cables. I have read that some have had good luck with the Knukonceptz cables. Which series?? Also, any one make their own cables?? I saw a video posted here a couple days ago that showed how to make your own. Is the quality worth the extra effort? Is the excess cable left lying around really that big of a contributer to noise? I say excess because you have to buy standard lengths regardless of how much you need( 2 foot cable to run 6 inches ). Any thoughts and suggestions?
Thanks.

grab 2 things of stranded 18 awg wire and put them in a drill and twist the wire together untill its fairly taught.

Solder on decent rca ends and your set.

$60+ for a set of cables?

Another alternative is using copper RG59u, great shielding and low cost.

I run the KnuKonceptz Karma cables in my boat. They are very good for the cost, just don't pull on the wire to unplug them or you will pull the end right off.

Any hand made cable will pull out if you pull the wire. The manufactured stuff is sealed in hot melt or fused in the plastic connector. You should never pull a cable by the wire regardless. Any cable I have ever made will break if you pull the wire, even with the little bit of stress loop I add into them.

KnuConcepts makes a fine cable.

hmmmm... a properly terminated hand built cable will not break if you strain relieve it correctly. I've built plenty of RCAs and I've never had that problem, I've potted, crimped, banded, taped, etc. the connector to the cable to make sure the wire won't come free

Don't know what kind of magic solution you are soldering with, but if you pull it hard enough it will break. No way to avoid that.
