I'd like to do a diesel project and would prefer a all glass boat but finding project inboards is not that easy as I'm finding out.
Does anyone know of a source for finding project / theft recovery boats?
I'd love to find a 23' deep v for surfing.

You are going to need a dealer number so make friends with a dealer. Next is a $200 sign up fee. Then you are all set.
Go to Salvagedirect.com

You will have trouble finding a insurance carrier that will cover it even for liability only.

Why do you say that? Heck my insurance company doesn't even know the hull ID# for my boat let alone where it came from, they have the state ID number though. We don't have boat titles in Arizona. I had a jet ski that I restored from salvage, heck it was even bought from the state as an abandoned vehicle and no problems what so ever... about 5% of the vehicles on ebay have salvaged or restored titles... I'm confused.

Another good one: http://www.auctionpipeline.com/

You may have to have a car dealer help you make the purchase. But you should be able to sign up for an account & check out the boats.

do boat hulls get registered anywhere? I have a Hull id card and a title for the trailer. INsurance does not care what kind of boat it is. Is that just me?
