Got a new Tow vehicle...

We picked up our new tow vehicle last night..

Fully loaded V8 Touareg with air suspension, tow hitch, 19's, nav, etc.. rated for 7700 lbs... but who's counting.

Can't wait to tow our boat in the spring. Our 2004 did an awesome job with our X-1.. good milage too considering the terran.. maybe 50km's less than norm for total range.

The old Touareg was nice.. but this one is so much better.... can't wait...




Performance wise this one is great... 4.2 ltr FSI V8 350 hp.
6.9 sec 0-60 and 15.4 1/4 mile.

Also the 6 piston front brakes do a great job of stopping the weight.. Truck is also 5200 lbs.. built tough for sure...

Towing... what F350 or 3500 cummins can tow this...

I have been researching the crossover-type SUV type vehicles for awhile now and am trying to decide what to get the wife. I already have a truck to tow the boat, but would like someting that will tow the boat in a pinch, but also haul at least 6 people if need be, and have the ride and performance more like a car than an SUV. The only vehicles that fit the bill are the Audi and Touareg.

I really like the Touareg, but I REALLY like the Audi Q7. Only major differences are the Audi has 3rd seat, but tows less. I know a guy that has the 4.2 Q7 and has towes his VLX with it without any issues whatsoever...price is basically the same too. Another buddy has the Touareg and although he doesn't tow that often, really raves about it.

The wife really likes the 3rd seat in the Audi for taking extra people if necessary. And in my opinion, the Audi interior is a step above the VW, but again, that's just me. So I am not sure which way to go. We are still a few months away from making a decision.

I wonder what re-sale will be between the two? Will the Audi hold better over say 5-6 years? Or vice-versa?

The main thing is if you are leasing. If you drive alot and your going to have overmilage.. the Audi will cost you 0.20 or 0.25 per mile.. while VW only charges 0.10

I believe the residuals Values on both are the same also.

Hard choice... if you live in a city centre, the Touareg is much easier to park due to it's smaller size...
