Does any one keep in contact with him? I was watching some video's of him on you tube today that crazy double front flip & his famous speed ball. Just wondering what he is up to and if he is still contributing to the sport. He was one of my favorite riders.

darin is my favorite rider. he is a cool guy, and super good coach. i haven't seen him since 2007.

There have been a few threads on him in the last couple of months. At one point in time, he and his family were moving to Hawaii to start a Ride The Spot wakeboarding camp. There was a great video filmed within the last year on the Wakeboarding magazine website.

Thank's for the link srh00z. That was def shot in florida by the looks of the rusty color water. I read he retired because of back problems. Also heard he might have gone to mexico or Hawaii. I was just trying to see if anyone here kept in contact with him & if he was still involved in the industry.

I'm pretty sure that Darin is not from Canada, but is there really another pro rider named Darin Shapiro? He is listed as a pro rider that has registered for the Board Up event in Miami (which is the same weekend as Wake Games in Orlando).

that 5 at the end was one of the crazier things i have seen on a wakeboard. How is he so strong, JEEZ!!!

I just spoke with Darin yesterday morning. He's very much in the industry and still riding. Might even hit a couple of the comps this year. He and Heather got married and they have a little 1 year old now. Super cool guy and one of the legends of our sport. For those of you in Colorado, he'll be here in June for a couple of days with our team riders. It's not open to the public but we might end up over at a local shop or something for those that want a photo or autograph.

He is. He is building a house there. I used to live near to him and saw him quite often. He still has students coming to his place. He had shoulder surgery toward the end of last year.
