I picked up 2 3 blade 13X13 LH 1" bore props at a garge sale, my boat takes a 13X13 LH 1 1/8" bore. Has anyone ever had a prop resized? I don't think it would be difficult for a machine shop to do, but was curious if it had been done before. Thanks Tom Murphy

i'd be shocked if they had different castings for the same props, so it should be cake for a machine shop to rebore & broach a prop. they will charge more for SS than nibral if they know what they're doing.

so what kind of deal did you get on them?

good luck.

Cutting it isn't bad, the set up is a little bit more trick. Might be hard to find somewhere to chuck on. May have to deepen the keyway as well.

i'd think chucking on a 3 blade shouldn't be much of a problem. 4 blade would be tougher.

True. I'm not sure how much a small shop would charge.

It'd probably cost more than a new one for my shop to do it.

Any good prop shop can do it, figure $50+/-

When I dropped my prop off I mentioned to the guy that I had to get rid of my old spare because it had the wrong shaft size, he said "you should've brought it in, we can open up the shaft bore"

Thanks,
I will call a couple prop shops and see what they charge. I paid $60 each, so can still come out ahead if it is not too much more. They are both brand new still in the box OJ legend- Nibral. They are a few years old but other than that look fine.

Be aware, the bore is reduced from one end to the other. It's not a straight bore, it's conical.
