I'm looking at a couple boats and wake is a factor. I had a 2001 Tige 23V and the wake was washy a lot. I loved my friends 2000 21V wakesetter and 2002 SAN 210. Anyway, I have an opportunity at a 247 Malibu WS or a 07 X-Star. I have never been in either boat. I know the X-Star wake is consider a great wake. My wife would love the giant open space of the Wakesetter but I'm worried that it's too big a bog to have a consistent wake and hard to maneuver.

I would go with the X-star if those were my choices, unless you have/plan on having 16 kids

Ridden both of theses boats. Both throw a great wake. Both will take a fair amount of wake but the great thing is they only get better with more weight. On the plus side for the 247, you get a great surf wake on both sides plus one of the largest cockpits around.

I personally would try more then two boats before I came to a decision. Why are those two your only option?

Garrett, X-star for the wake, however, if you want the extra space, don't be afraid of the 247 IMO it's the best handling big boat out there right now.

My guess is that he's shopped a bit, and a local dealer has the two boats and wants to get rid of them. X-Star. 247 wake can get big to, but X-Star shape is where it is at. ride behind each first if you can.

If the wake is a factor for you then the answer is X-Star hands down.

The 247 will have a BIG wake when weighted but the X-Star's wake shape will be the best by far. If you are looking for having room, go with the Wakesetter. If you are looking for the perfect wake, go with the X-Star.

Thanks everyone. There was a dealer auction today that had both boats. That is why I couldn't test them out. I didn't end up getting either one. I will keep shopping for a malibu 23V. I'm suprised there are not better deals with the economy the way it is. I think folks that would have bought new are buying used to save some $.

So did you see how much the two boats sold for at the auction. Just curious.

07 x-star sold for 43k and 06 Malibu 247 sold for 42k. There was an 06 VLX that sold for 33k. I couldn't tell what size. It looked to have more room then my friends 02 wakesetter 21V.
