That just shows that his boat is "winning"!!! When you scoop up exactly 2 drops of water when coming off plane in perfectly smooth water, you have your boat dialed. Weight on the bow side is the pro side....

Nobody's sinking anything. JB has an 8.1l in that monster and it can handle more than most realize. Those are two 450lb bags and I am sure he has at least 500lb under the front seats. so probably ~1500lbs in the bow.

I do not know JB and I hope he returns to answer how much weight is in the boat, but until then, we can speculate. My guess is...
The said setup in the bow (~1500 lbs) + 800 lbs x 2 around the engine (1600 lbs)+stock (~1000 lbs)+ a nice 500-800 lbs lying in the cockpit and I imagine his dad is about 200 lbs. I know JB has some serious weight in the back because his platform is flush with the water and that can be a tricky feat to accomplish 1500 lbs in the bow.

My guess is total weight...4500-4750 lb

I have the Indmar MCX in my star and I can handle the 1600 in the back + 1000 up front + stock (1000)+ 450 lb sack in the cockpit. I can take about three others out on the boat with me and still get to my exact riding speed (23.8) within 20-30 seconds. I also refuse to "pin it" on my boat, so it could probably plane a little quicker but I try to give the engine a break (the best that I can) because I know I am destroying her with that much weight...but hey...this is wakeboarding right, and the fun factor multiplies as the wake size increases.

Oh Yeah...
Kick Ass video man. I love your edits and the consistency. I can always depend on a good number of edits from JB throughout the year.

hey guys thanks for all the positive comments, it means a lot!

as for the weight, 250 under each front seat, 450 on top of each front seat, 450 on the floor in the back, 800 in each rear locker, stock 500 in rear, stock 500 in kgb, id assume 400 to 500 in lead, and usually 1 to 3 people sometimes more.

250
250
450
450
450
800
800
450 (lead)
1000 (stock)

4900 + people and the 8.1 is heavier than the mcx

planes out in a few seconds, it could definitley handle more in the back

Always fun to watch your videos JB - thanks for putting them out! Watching this video makes me miss my time in Austin - two years for school went by waaaay too fast! Such a great town and wakeboard scene - Austin is amazing.

You can't stop the 8.1. You could literally sink the boat before you could stop it from getting on plane. It's a beast. And the extra weight from the big block gives it more lip than your average X-star.

Great riding. How fast and what rope length? 4900 is so close to 5K you owe it to yourself to add an extra 100 of ballast somewhere, somehow.

J-Rod: How much HP does the 8.1L have and how does it compare to the 7.4L Ilmore? I rode in Moye's former Star (2011 with the 7.4L) and that thing was a total hauss! I've never seen a boat get up on plane as fast as that boat, even with all of the ballast he was running for the pro-level rider on the boat (500lbs of lead in the nose, two 400lb sacs...one under each bow seat, two 1100lb sacs in the rear lockers, stock ballast, 7 peeps and gear, new 5-blade OJ prop).

JB, Thank you for telling me your setup. I wish I had the 8.1l. Wish i had it.

Jb, are you one of the lucky ones who has rubber coated lead bars or do you use lead shot?

Awesome video as usual, Question. Are you trying to start a trend with the 2 different color bindings?

^ I'm sure there is a perfectly logical explanation. Like wearing a t-shirt over a vest.

Is that your first time seeing that? I remember vandall (and a few other riders) a couple years ago rocking offset color bindings..

probably as logical as blowing out a binding and still wanting to ride...

yup! my seekers lasted me all of 2012 and finally gave out on me, those boots can take a hell of a beating let me tell you ha!

ya im not a fan of the whole tshirt thing and was honestly kind of embarrassed to film with two different colored boots.

the lead is actually in shape of a bricks, my parents had them sitting outside of their house, they were probably sitting out there alot longer than iv been alive, so im not sure where they came from
