Heads up Orwood riders.

I was feeling a little lazy last night and decided to pay a little more at Orwood. Any time I'm on the water I buy super. To my surprise 91 was 4.03 per gallon....ouch! I didn't expect to pay that much more.

Bring cans or leave yourself enough time to pull down to Bixler and 4.

It was pretty windy. I waited and rode as the sun was going down. The water wasn't (for me) wasn't ridable until about 7PM.

It's always been expensive there! It's been like $3.89 right? That's only 0.15 more, not too bad if you ask me compared to like 0.50+ increase on land.

Gas at Bixler is 3.25 for regular w/o the .003 discount for Club Card Holders. This is a .10 increase since Tuesday. Yesterday there were about 50 people protesting the prices at Bixler and 4.

Joe - Good luck - can't wait to hear about your findings. Keep your eyes peeled for us, too.

thanks for the offer ed, but i think we're staying in sac. and as crappy as this sounds, it doesn't sound like i'm gonna have time to ride. we might take a run or two early sunday morning...we'll see.

liz, i'll let you guys know what we find. we may rent until we find the right house. i'd hate to jump in on something and it turn out to be a bad investment, ya know? but we do have our eyes on a couple properties. they're pretty small, but we like the wood floors and granite counters.

can you get gas cans at target? do they even sell 'em there? if so, target would be cheaper, right? (not to diss local shops)

also, how 'bout home depot?
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       05-10-2006, 11:03 AM Reply
I think I paid about 25 / can at Cycle Gear. I probably could have found them cheaper, but they're not the cheap red ones.

Anyway, they save me 5 bucks everytime I fill one.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       05-10-2006, 11:07 AM Reply
then they pay for themselves!

since we're talkin' about gas and that i'm a mooch, would it be easier for boat owners if mooches showed up w/ a 5gal can of gas? how many pulls can a mooch get for a 5gal can of gas?
Old     (greatdane)      Join Date: Feb 2001       05-10-2006, 11:12 AM Reply
I have 5 6 gallon red plastic gas cans from WALMART that I use regularly. They were about $15 each.

If they are 2-strokers, be sure to rinse out those cans well.

Dane, do those cans empty fast enough for you? I need to pick up a few more.

Joe,

Evan and I were showing up with gas cans for a while. In my boat, 5 gallons covers about 1.5 pulls, or one of my 40 minute pulls.

I believe the x2 tank is 35 gals. After about 9 pulls, I'm praying we make it to the gas station.

YO AARON! I heard you ran your new baby dry! Don't feel bad.. I did the same.
Old     (lzyboy)      Join Date: Jun 2001       05-10-2006, 12:00 PM Reply
Ya....

anything below a 1/4 tank is basically EMPTY on that sob. 5-10 minutes tops once it drops below a 1/8 tank.

Check this - we had a guy and his kids towing us in, We were in old river between vics n rivers end and 1/2 way through the tow he cuts us loose and says hes going to get us gas & will be back cause otherwise he wont get his set in =( I was in shock but what can you do, I was stil gratefull for what he had done ya know - what do you do?

Brandon came along n finished the tow in....

We saw the guy bout 100 feet from the Marina with a 2 gallon can and said thanks & through 10.00 bucks in his boat... First time thats happen to me, I hooked up Brandon with 20 bones for the remainder of the tow in. What goes around comes around.

Jrod, the ones that I have are without the new safety spouts (required these days, I guess). They work great minus the fact that you get gas on your hands setting up the spout (inverting it).

BTW, last time I looked, WALMART had only 5 gallon cans. Since I have 5 cans, that extra gallon is nice. Five 6 gallon cans == six 5 gallon cans.

I also like the taller profile of the 6 gallon cans because they take up less floor space.
Old     (greatdane)      Join Date: Feb 2001       05-10-2006, 12:21 PM Reply
Guys, since my BU sucks the gas and the my BU's gas gauge sucks, I carry 2 gallons of gas on-board. I stuff it behind the drivers seat out in the open air (never put gas in an enclosed space). Those 2 gallons have saved me many times! I also wish the boat manufacturers would add a 2 or 3 gallon reserve tank like motorcycles!
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       05-10-2006, 12:27 PM Reply
Yep, a reserve would be nice.

Also, last time my boat died, I filled the rear ballast tanks to collect the remaining fuel at the back where the pickup is and then just idled. That got me an extra couple of miles.

Aaron...that's brutal. He obvious didn't know who he was cutting loose. You're the carrier of all good kharma and good luck. He's screwed, now!
