I was also thinking that a device like this might be handy on a winch to keep the handle (and rope) from getting damaged on the rare occasion that it speeds into the spool without getting stopped or slowed down first... granted that the opening that the rope feeds through is big enough for the bullet which i bet it most to all cases is. but then again, i have only winched a couple of times and don't know.
