What would be wrong with putting griptape on a wakeboard and calling it a wakeskate?
Have you done it?

Wakeboards are about 30cm give or take few longer than wakeskates.

So if your normal length is 141, and you have an old 137..... seems it should be about right. What else am I missing

While you could certainly do that, you would just be better off buying an inexpensive skate. So you would be using an old 137 to do this? Frankly, I think that you would be hard pressed to ollie that thing out of the water let alone get it to spin under you on shuvs. Typical wakeskates are around 105-115 or so, hence the 30cm difference as mentioned above.

However, if you just plan on doing this for fun then go for it. Personally I would just mount the board on a wall or sell it to a newb.

the first wakeskates were made by people that shortened their board and threw some grip tape (or variant) on the top.

we have wakeskate wars after a day of riding and usually we only have 1 skate out there so we take the bindings off a wakeboard and one person rocks that and the other rocks a skate... its basically the same thing but its more difficult to do tricks and stuff on but w/e
