Mercruiser 315MAG MPI-fuel problem?

Hi- I am hoping someone might have run into this before. I have a 2000 Ski Centurion Eclipse with a 350 Mercruiser 315HP MPI engine. I was skiing this weekend and had no problems in the morning when the engine was cold- It ran beautifully- we did about 6 sets. Each time I came back after an hour or so to start the engine it was backfiring and wouldn't run and seemed to be having trouble getting fuel. I just replaced the fuel water separator and I don't think i have an inline fuel filter. I believe the fuel water separator is the only filter. After a few hours it would run perfectly again. Any ideas out there to help me?? Thanks

perhaps one of your injectors could be dirty...happened to me once..cleaned out my air intake with some brake cleaner and a toothbrush just in case there were some dirty particles in there then ran a fuel injector cleaner through my tank and the problem was gone..yours could be different, just my 2 cents, im no mechanic though

Could be- the top of the flap to the air intake was quite dirty. The flame arrestor looked okay but I will clean it anyways. Did you have the same symptoms.... not getting fuel when warm?
