I just bought some tower speakers and two amps. I know how to install amps in a car so its not the fact of know how. I just need to know where to or what to ground the amp to. I have an 04 Supra Launch I was thinking of puting them underneath the Driverside dash and or in the locker. Also I have searched around on the subject and noticed people making Amp boards to put the amps on, is this needed or just prefered?
Thanks in advance.

Ground to the battery. People use amp baords for asthetics. They are not necessary, but make everything look good. they are very easy to build. just grap some plywood and speaker box carpet, and cut to size. Drill holes appropriately.

My buddy just wired in his amp, using a grounding strip, which has 4 grounding points. Now, he claims that West Marine has a combined power/grounding strip which he plans to install here shortly. If you're using multiple amps, and accesories (Jabsco pumps) why not? One central location for the power, and ground wires, which only require one wire for each to be run to the battery, or fuse panel.

I was having too much trouble with alternator whine noise so I grounded the amp directly to the engine block.Still not perfect but definatly a hell of alot better.

same rules apply in a boat as they do in cars, run the RCA as far away from all power lines. Also make sure you wrap RCA connections in electrical tape.
