Hey, what if you could hinge it from the other side so it swings left.. it looks like you can move the bolt to the other side so the tongue will swing the other way

Might look at doing some minor modifications to your garage, to gain the extra inch.

I see two possibilties that should fix it.

First, bevel that corner at the wedge. You could take the 1/2" of drywall off with no effort or risk and it would be easy to take another inch or more off the corner stud without significant risk.

Second, change over the swing tongue to the other side. It should not take much effort to do that.

Well, there is a third but you'd have to talk to Jeff from the Ghetto Garages thread.

I like reversing tongue swing back idea.

But if that doesn't work and you need a little more room, here's something I had to do for my garage that might help. You can spend $400 in one shot (bit less than 3 month's storage) and then be able to maneuver the boat around the garage by hand to fit as you need it, including sideways. Check these out:

Johnny, are you talking about the wedge from the transom or the wall?

Just push back a little harder. The wedge will cut a slot for itself.

someone mentioned cutting out a piece of sheetrock. You can also make a cutout in the studs and frame it in, as if you were framing out a window opening. This will give you 4 more inches of space.

I did what Rich said, frame out the wall to allow the part to stick into the wall. Worked for the 2" that I needed.

I had to do the same thing to get my boat and Accord in the garage.

I take the tounge all the way off and fold it back on some wood.
I remove both boat guide poles from the back of the trailer.
I remove the left rear tie down.
I cut a hole in the sheet rock.
I cut the bottom metal piece of my garage door in half.

In summer time we just leave the honda outside so I don't have to take everything off.
