My dealer told me I needed to bring the VLX in for a service at 20 hrs. He also said not to put the wedge down until after that service. Is this the same story everyone else is hearing?

Run the boat like a dirt bike for the first hour and just avoid long full throttle blasts until the first oil change. The slow break-in does not apply to post 1990 motors. Break it in like you want it to be able to run.

The first hour is the most important - lots of full throttle acelleration to just below redline.
