I'm about done at Ft. Lewis (a little south of Seattle) and will be moving to Ft. Polk in west central louisiana for a couple of years. I will miss having my boat in a slip 5 minutes from home and work.

That being said, anybody ride out there? Looking on the maps and different sites, it seems that there are some possibilities on Lake Vernon and Anacocco as long as you stay away from the stumps. Looks like there are a few within an hrs drive as well that are a little less stumpy.

Sooooo, is there anybody who has ridden on Lake Vernon and Anacocco? If so, how were they? Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Bakes

I dont know of very many riders in that area. its kinda dead for the most part...I know just north in shreveport and natchitoches there is a group of riders and i know a lot of people south of alexandria in lafayette and Lake charles... but everytime i hear of someone in that area they are at their huntin camp. There are a lot of lakes around the Shreveport area that are rideable, LC has the intercoastal, laffy has henderson and some areas south of it. Im in the north east corner and we have quite a few places.

When are you moving down?

Okay, Bakes...I met your wife today at Toledo Bend. We are in the same boat brother. I got a 2010 MB B52 Team Widebody. I have had tons of compliments on the wake! I can prolly get it about waist high to surf on. I basically came to the conclusion today that I'm not launching this boat in Toledo Bend. Someone on this forum once gave me their phone number and told me to call them and they would tell me where they board at, somewhere North of Ft. Polk. Unfortunately, I can't find that dude's number so I'm SOL...Based on the previous post, I think it is somewhere in the Shreveport area or north of that though....Bro, I am DOWN to tow the boat 2 - 2.5 hours north in order to get good, clean, deep, NO STUMP Glassy water....Heck, I'd settle for deep and not stumpy but still choppy......almost anything that is safe for the $60,000 boat! Your wife has our phonr number bro....call us anytime and we can figure it out together if ya want....anyone else reading this, any input on GOOD, DEEP lakes in West/Central Louisiana would be helpful, Thanks!

The only place i know of close to where your saying is cross lake in shreveport and caddo lake, which is located in LA and Tx. Its an all natural lake. Its really beautiful and way different than anything else you probably ever ride. Its my favorite lake by far. Always glass, no one ever there. We ride on the river part

We live in Shreveport and ride on Cross Lake mostly. I've been itching to roll up to Caddo Lake. Where is the best place to launch? I haven't lived here that long and I've never been up that way.

launch at the ramp thats under the the highway 43 bridge. And ride up river from there. there are less houses and boats and fisherman that way. and its got the best tree cover. you will not be disappointed

My neighbor was talking about "government ditch" in Karnack, is that the same river we're talking about?

Josh

We took our tige down by the dam and it looked pretty good. Launch was a bit shallow but otherwise not bad. There looked to be a couple of smaller tree tops sticking up but we rode for a couple of hrs without any probs. There s also a really nice spot I will tell you about offline about an hr from ft Polk.

Anyways, hopefully this wind will stop one of these days

I dont know if yall have heard but there is a big free ride about 2 hours from yall in lafayette next weekend. Im headed down from monroe. Also in shreveport i rode a place the other day called 12 mile i think. If off of the river. just above the casinos. but ive also ridden the river there. Its really nice. just gets shallow in some parts so beware. nuthing too extreme tho that i noticed. it was just a little dangerous for the rider if he went in head first.

Old thread but....

Red River by Alexandria (*put in at Boyd's) is to die for. Endless butter pretty much all day with just a couple of fishing Jon boats.

Just in case your stuck at that hell hole Ft Polk. Great way to pass the time

This is old. Its funny now too because i posted on this thread in 2011 and moved to shreveport in 2013.

First off. Pretty sure I know one of the posters above, K SQ, is that you Kenny? Crazy how small the wakeboard community is.

But anyways, we ride the red river here a few times a week and that's pretty much the spot for riding in shreveport area.
