Unbelievable, I was watching a surf movie with him in it just last night. RIP Andy one of the best surfers on the tour ever.

Terribly sad that he didn't even make it home, and leaves his wife behind.

Tragic Pulls out of the contest due to the flu, little did he know it was much worse. Tries to get home to his wife who is due in 5 weeksand never makes ot.

AI seemed to have been getting his career back in gear and had a good comeback going,

He was awesome to watch in the water and he and Slater had a good rivalry for so long.

So shocking for a fit athlete to go down just like that. Dengue fever? Damn. If you are every traveling in the tropics...and get sick...don't try to man it out. Get some medical advice. Some of the tropical bugs are serious....

I just wonder if he'd had Dengue before. There is very little you can do about Dengue, if you contract it. The first time you experience it though it's more mild, definitely not fun, but more mild, similar to a bad cold or flu. Subsequent times can really get severe. I just did a presentation on this disease a few days ago :-/
