*insert your momma joke here* There are a lot of riders who aren't making money that are incredible on the water. Kids in particular, like Eddie and Jacob Valdez, Derek Conway, A.J. Racinelli, Sean Teagarden, Nathan Smith, K.K. Kastari, Tyler Killinsworth, Tony Carroll, Jimmy Wolf, and Jarred Couch. They absolutely kill it out there. Another one of my favorite riders is Damien Klass. He kills it too, and almost every trick he throws he can also do switch, which is very inspiring to me. Steve Edwards and Josh Palma ride for Cire boardwear, but aren't big name top paid pros. Both of those guys kill it on the water.

Justin Butinsky: http://www.wakepics.com/img/10093 Many of the guys mentioned by Shawn do actually compete. Doesn't Jimmy Wolf compete too?

Maybe spin daddy can clarify. When I think of pro riders, I think of some one who is making a living off the sport. Shawns list has quite a few signed riders, but none are really mentioned in the mags or shown on vids too often.

yeah, i guess what i meant were the guys not competing at the pro level but could be. i see guys around the local lakes that just go out and kill it...those are the guys i am talking about. sponsorship???...ok, so they are sponsored. Butinsky rips as good as anyone out there, but isn't a high profile name like Harf or the Bonifay's.

Who's getting paid on the West coast? I don't know of anyone although I don't know what kind of deal Mikey Ennen has with Liquid force. Schwenne get's a little here and there from some of his sponsors. Free product abounds but that is about it. I'd love to hear from anyone who is making a living just from riding that's not a household name.

J-Rod, I was thinking about Matt VDA too when I seen this thread but wasn't sure what his status is as far as pro or not.

My bad, J-rod I must have missed the doesn't compete part. In my defense none of them are riding in the Pro Tour, or making money off the sport.

My favorite rider is (drum roll...) Shawn Wilson of SoCal, he makes riding look so easy! My Brother Fred Escalera of Lake Nacimiento really kills, he no longer competes, but has the major hook-up on sponsers, Like Extreme Marine, Black flys, Hyerlite, ect... sorry, No current pic's. Hey, Shawn Can you help me out? Luv ya! Shawn's Mom

Watch Delta Sessions and see abut 11 riders with no major sponserships short of a board/bindings. The money is just not there. Look at Shaprio for example....

Mike Cardoza. He rode at nationals and was doing petes, dum dums heelside and toe off axis handle passs kgb batwing etc. I never saw him fall once. Also I think Brian austerman is one of the most underrated riders. Also i second what Jason said for sure.

come to think of it looking at this thread, there might be some person out there just as good as a pro who just doesn't wakeboard for a living or doesn't know they're so incredible.

No Question, Mike and Nick Cardoza. These guys are twins bothers who riiiiiiiip. Mike is the two-time defending national INT champ and Nick is a two-time runner-up. Mike is a wee lil bit better on the technical side and Nick seems to ride with just a lil more smooth style. I've filmed these guys for the past two and a half years and after watching a TON of footage, I think I like Nick's riding a lil better. They each have their own section in our fist film and they each have their own section in our second film due out later this summer. They do a have couple of "low-level" sponsorships (Malibu, Obrien, etc.) but they have not competed in any pro events, which is a bit strange as both of these kids are alot better than alot riders I've seen on the tour. Don't be too surprised to be seeing and hearing more of these kids in the near future. Here are a few pics: Mike C. Mike C. Nick C. Nick C. We've got lots more pics and some vid clips of these guys at our website: www.numbskullpro.com

Thanks Jeremy! That is probably, my favorite picture of me riding, although it was shot last August at Canyon Lake. Not at Elsinore a few weeks ago when we had the honor to watch Trevor ride. Sometimes Mom is easily confused.
