i keep my boat meticulous, therefore the sides of the hull are always bright white, but i havent done the bottom. how often do you guys wax the bottom of your boats, and do you just wax around the rails, also is that good enough? sorry multiple questions thanks.

Never waxed the underside of a boat in 25 years of boating.

In my opinion the wax is to help minimize finish degradation caused by the sun. Since the bottom of my boat never sees the sun it does not need wax.

Never waxed a ski or board either.

jmunday show us pics of your boat. What do you use to wax your boat? We have yet to wax our boats. Just use boat bright.

I think it's pointless to wax the hull. I only use a spray wax every third or so time when drying the boat off.

waxing the the bottom doesnt do much but if you wanted to ide say go for it.. just make sure you wash and maybe buff the bottom to get all the dirt and grim outa the gel coat

ive been detailing boats year round and spray on wax is a rip off.. not worth the money.. i will explain
1you must have a good coat of wax on the boat before you spray wax
2 boat has to be rinsed off or all the sediments will just smear into the spray on wax
3 last about 1 pull on a boat
4 takes just as much time a a 1 step wax
5 expensive!!

# 2 is the main reason.. if the boat isnt clean all the spray on wax does is take all the hard water spots and mixes them into the wax. this creates problems later when cleaning the gel coat

i use Meguiar's products.. they have everything you could ask for and it works..

a boat should be waxed about 1 time a month or 2 times depending on how many times you take it out...

I never wax the underside.

I try to wax the sides of the hull at the start of the season. The main reason is because the boat sits in the water throughout the weekend and gets a nasty scum line. If the hull is waxed the scum line washes off easily.

Waxing the top of the deck/gunnel can make things interesting. A waxed, smooth surface plus a little water and you have a very slippery surface!

303 the underside, don't have to wipe it off but offers some protection.

Doesn't 303 come off as soon as it hits the water?
