I don't believe it's been posted her on WW before, but forgive me if it has been passed along. Prior to going out on the water, I like to try and get a perspective on weather condition. Water temp and air temp are great, but sometimes wind gust gets lost in the excitement of getting out on the water. I found this link while doing a project in an Environmental Science class: http://hint.fm/wind/. I thought it was cool, as well as interesting, so I thought I would pass it on. If all else fails, you can at least get mesmerized in the diagram.

All right, X3. That's much more user friendly. If anything, it'll give people more options to browse for wind conditions on their local lakes and rivers.

That is very cool and you can zoom on it.

I often run the river and cross a large lake. I check the wind direction and speed before so I know what I am dealing with and if I even want to travel that area. I found that the Weather Channel's site on my cell phone works best. They provide and hourly breakdown of the rain chances, wind speed and direction so you can plan ahead. I can see if it will get sloppy and to what degree in the afternoon which is usually my return trip.
