So I just finished upgrading to RGB LEDs in the boat and we were out for a ride tonight and everything looked pretty cool.

So here is the question. Do you guys have issues with bugs? I swear not 10 min went by and we had bugs everywhere! All over the boat! All that work and I dont want to turn them back on. Anyone have that problem? Any ideas on how to stop them?

Bug Zapper. No, the facts are if you turn lights on the bugs they are a comin'. There really is no solution for them that but you could try misting the area with Off but I doubt that will do much.

I have read about the bug problem in many threads seems the overall consensus is red light does not attract as many bugs I would love to do the RGB LED's on my tower but just went with red rings throughout to avoid the uninvited guests so far so good

We keep a couple off those Off Clip-On bug deals on our boat for hanging out at night. It definitelty helps keep the bugs away. However, if there is a decent breeze, it doesn't work as well.

I have run my lights many times without a bug problem, but I suspect it has a lot to do with your local climate. I also rarely just run one solid color usually cycling colors to beat to the music. That may be why..

White and Blue will especially attracted the bugs. I run all red LEDs and dont have any bugs. The second I turn my tower lights on we get swamped with bugs. Now I only turn my tower lights on when the boat is moving.

Yep, depends on the color. Ever notice the light in a bug zapper is blue and bug free house lights are yellow?

Run them in red or yellow and you will not have bug issues, white, blue, you will get bugs for sure.

Not sure about green.

i have a pretty big geen LED system in my boat and have never had any problems with bugs. same as above, im sure it has to do a lot with the climate and area you are in, but as soon as i turn my tower lights on they are all over.. nothing with the green though.
