Need to de honest on what kinda wake u want in that price range and a rampy wake a nautique excel or barefoot from 91-94. I know u said other than nautique. Me previous boat was a ski supreme worked well but the wake wasnt that big even with added weight the excel like i have now is a vdrive and with added ballast it puts wake as big as the newer high dollar boats. any direct drive boat that has been maintained will be decent just need to look at stringers for rot same with the excel unless u find one that is 92-94 which has composite stringers. Watch out for. salt water boats my buddy has a 87 supra sunsport which is around 20 ft and open bow will make a pretty good wake with ballast

I'm actually about to put my ski challenger up for sale for 10k. Excellent condition, new(ish) interior, aerial assault tower, killer sound system, malibu floating wedge, 2 750 ballasts in the rear, 1 750 sac in the front, all hooked up to switches. I'm in AZ though....

If you can find a Hydrodyne Grandsport. They are great. I just bought my first boat and got lucky and ran across a 1995 with 555 hours on the engine. Throws a great wake and only cost me 8750.

The boats i was looking at were early 90s Malibu Sunsetters, Prostar 205s, supra sunsports, and Nautique sports. All these hulls are great for wake and you may be able to find one under 10k in good shape... You just have to be patient i found. It took me a year to run across the Hydrodyne I ended up buying.

Keep your eye out for a Sanger v210. We got ours 4 years ago for 13k with 500 hours in excellent condition. You won't find a better boat or wake for the price.

Awesome.......it really works great. And yes, the transom was heavily reinforced and we did not do a simple bolt-on deal. Lots of research was put in to figure out the best position and how to reinforce everything.
Honestly, its not really worth the time and money. You can buy a decent amount of sacs for what the wedge costs.

When did they start putting electronic fuel injection in the boats?

Pretty early. Those early ski challengers had fuel injection. You could always convert a carb to to throttle body.
