With the lakes thawing fast and only about 1 foot of ice left we decided to break out the Winch. On the top of the ice was melting slush and when pushed away there was water on top. We dug out three pools and slid the ice in between. Before we got started the cops show up and was a little at ease when they found we had life jackets and drysuits. They let us continue but only a few pulls into it and a big crowd they shut us down for not having the proper permit.

Wow! I've always thought about trying something like this but never been crazy enough to pull it off.

E.J. ~~ If your talking Jordanelle you can launch off the PWC ramp and that half of the lake it thawed. UT lake is 100% iced off and we were suppose to hit it yesterday but the wind is non stop.

Thanks for checking all the pics everybody! I just threw a short clip of video on www.downfortheride.com check it out here http://dftrdownfortheride.ning.com/video/ride-the-ice

Actually Josh the wind wasn't so bad yesterday. We had a great day out on Utah Lake. There was a three hour or so window when the water was really quite nice. That ice jam thing is pretty sick though!

Spence ~~ We were all for it but then Dewey (wakeutah.com) has always had this idea about ice and water and getting some pics. We had to take the chance this weekend with most of the ice melting in the next week or so. We will have a ton of days on the boat and one on the ice this year. Have you been on downfortheride and seen what I'm trying to do with Company wakeboards?

David ~~ It was bad enough that I had to look at the pic as much as I did. He's in the video though!

Everybody ~~ Here is a short clip that might bring a little chuckle to ya. It's not everyday you have somebody pull up with a boat and the lake is still frozen. Check it out...

I don't know why I can't get it to link?

I would have had hockey gear on doing that. Those falls on the ice must have been awful.

David~ The boat was saying it was in the high 40's. I was surfing (with drysuit) for over an hour and my feet never got very cold.

Sick Josh! We finally hit the water Saturday also. Not quite as cold, but still some ice chunks floating around!
