Ok guys, my friend and I have been wanting to build some rails for this summer. However, we are debating if it is worth the risk of losing your board. I hear about a lot of people breaking their board when they do rails, and even if you have a warranty, nobody will fix or replace your board if there is any evidence of you using a rail. Can any of you who have ridden rails answer me 2 things...
1)What is the chance of breaking your board?
2)Is it worth the chance?

Thanks

IMO just buy a 2003 Origin or 2004 Joyride board with the P-tex base, and use that as a slider board. or just use an old board that you don't care about breaking.

Kristian, that's exactly what I did. Except I already had it and just retired it to slider status. 2001 Weddington pro 138, finless and beat to hell. I sure as hell wouldn't put my normal board through the beating, it only sucks when you want to do it all. I pretty much have to take slider set. It's nice to have binding for both though.

Morgan - I don't know about your board breaking, (anything is possible), but it will get pretty beat up with lots of dings and scratches..

The 2nd question depends on how badly you want to jib or not. Is it worth jibbing knowing you will mark up your board? Only you can answer that.

A few years ago I went to OWC with a Belmont prototype. 4 hours later I left with an unrecognizable chunk of foam and laminate.

Hit the sliders, they are a blast. Wear a helmet, and use a second (old/cheap) board.

I have a TFD that I've been taking to OWC for like 6 months or so now (I go about once a week). My board is scratched up, but no chunks taken out.
If you can get a cheapo junky board to hit the sliders I would recommend that, but it's definately worth it. Sliders are awesome.

Yes, try a slider. I had my moment of glory for 3 seconds. Now that board is retired as the slider board. Wear a brain bucket and don't close your eyes when you hit it.
