I don't foil (always wanted to try, but no one around here has one). But while researching insurance I found this disclosure on the ski-safe web site.

quote:

Some exclusions:

Private pleasure use only.

No use for parasailing or similar activity, including air chairs.

Boat must be17 ft. or longer. Mini jet boats go into our PWC program.

That really caught me by surprise and was just wondering if everyone knew this. You might want to check your policy to make sure air chairs are not excluded on your policy.}

Check out the Ski Safe page here

Whoa - that's news to me. I am just about to renew my insurance at BoatUS. Thanks for the post - I'll check it out.

I guess the question here is what’s an AirChair? To me that is a brand of personal hydrofoil. I ride a Skyski, does that count?

Is AirChair considered a common enough term that it’s generic for personal hydrofoils? Like Xerox is for photocopying? Or is it like Coke and Pepsi, both colas but neither one is generic enough to be considered a term for cola…

Time to look at the State Farm policy on the boat!!!!!!

Check with USA Waterski. Now that foil is an authorized sport, insurance regarding the AC will be changing forever.
