My family and I are looking to camp in late August. We live outside of Stockton and are looking for a place we can bring our RV that is pet friendly. We have been to Tulloch, Don Pedro, Berryessa. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

There are a few spots on shasta, but they do have rv size regulations. a couple of years ago we camped down the Mcloud arm in our motorhome. nice and wooded and so peacefull back there. nice tucked away riding spots too.

New Hogans (near you), New Melones (just south of you), Whiskeytown (up towards Shasta), and Rollins Lake (near Auburn, CA) for starters.

Whiskytown is my favorite lake but I wouldnt recomend RV's there. You'll be in the parking lot with no hookups right in the middle of everyone. Water at New Hogan is pretty low, was there last weekend. If you go to Shasta id suggest Antlers, full hookups and all the amenaties you could ever need but the water is really low so its a bit of a hike down from the campground. I've been looking into Bullards Bar and I definately need to hit that place up, looks nice. If you really want some great camping and dont mind driving a ways for it id go to Trinity.

I second what Ant said about Bullards. In fact I'm headed their for Memorial Fri-Mon at School house. The camp sites are pretty spread out, perfect place for a family. Also its real quiet at night, so you can get some sleep for the next day. some sites have a pull thru, others have a nice long pad for an RV. All the reservations are handled thru the Emerald Cove Marina, very nice people there, just call and they'll give you the skinny on everything. By the way its a Federal Dam so there's no fee for launching or parking, but I'm paying to keep the boat in a side slip, cause I dont' want to walk up that hill! Oh, before I forget, Bullards has like 3 waterfalls flowing, lots of wind protection, some parts of the water are emerald in color and it gets pretty warm fast. The real cold bottom water feeds lake Englebright...

Shaver Lake (near Fresno) is awesome. Bald Eagles, great Pine trees, RV hook-ups. The only thing is watch out for the rocks in the lake (not kidding). My portfolio pic is at Shaver. Here's the link:
