Long story short. I tried to crank to boat the other day and it spun for a while, so I let the key go and the engine sort of back fired (a small pop). I tried to crank it several more times and the it just wouldn't quite turn over. I let it set for a few minutes and tried again and it cranked. A day or too later, I noticed a grinding hissing noise when it is at idle. Nothing I have heard before. It seems to run fine otherwise. I have noticed when I pull back to neutral (after a rider falls) it is slow to go back to idle (sort of like still getting a lot of gas). Does anyone know what may be the problem? Thanks. By the way it is a Mercruiser 315 hp.
