Well we have a 07 VLX and at this point I'm really considering getting a set of either the addiction or tyrants. The other day I was tailing a pro rider and his x star about 200-250 feet back to the right of his boat. At this lenght I could here his music perfectly, I was even suprised to hear bass and not just high treble.

Recently I have been contemplating a set.

The Addictions would sit better on the Illusions because I can mount them more to the side. I wouldnt go with Nvs's special illusions side mount because I already have a set of titans (mb quart). Id rather get the tyrants because they have more power, but everyone will be ducking under them.

Also what kind of amp would I need to get to run these bad boys? at 400-500 watts per a unit I think it would need around 1000 watts to run well and loud.

Any feedback would be cool.

You are making the correct choice. NVS rocks. I have had three riders actually ask me to turn the music down while riding behind my boat.

I run 1000 watts to my 1010s. I don't think you need as much for the Addictions, but not sure about the Tyrants.

Those NVS ROCK!!! Great choice. I've had very good results with the '07 Rockford amps. I'm running (2) Entities with (2) Rockford T400-2 amps. It works very well. You are correct with your power ratings. The worst thing you can do to these speakers is under power them.

My NVS Addictions are 2 years old. I push them with a PPI PCX4125 that runs 500 watts to each speaker when bridged. I have the gains turned to about 2/3. Very loud and crisp. I am extremely pleased with them.

The documentation that came with them said to put 250 Watts to each one.

I love my Tyrants. I'm running them with an 850/4 Kicker, and they scream. My buddy has a set of the addictions on his Bu, and they sound great as well. Oh, and let's not forget customer support. I'm an audio retard, and Duane was still able to talk me through the proper installation of mine when they arrived.

I've heard NVS and am impressed as well. I will tell you what the Wetsounds people told me though when I wanted to keep my stock JL's on the tower. They said no way in hell will you be able to hear the JL/Titans with a set of pro audio speakers up there. I would sell those baby's to help pay for your NVS setup. Just my 2 cents. Matt

I've also had both and heard all of the NVS line as well as the wetsoudns lineup. If you can listen to them side by side...there is a noticeable difference between them.

Adam what do you think of 2 pair of pro80's vs one pair of addiction.

Sorry for the highjack

Ewing,
I think that 2 pair would cost more.

I have heard one pair of pro 80's and they are comparable to my Addictions. I heard the Pro 80's in a parking lot at the stereo shop. They sound very nice too. Never got to do a side by side, but my sense was that at a greater distance, the NVS sound louder. Mine can be heard a mile away.

I have a suggestion you should look into Liquid Acoustic speakers. They are by far the best sounding speakers I've ever heard behind any boat and I've ridden behind my fair share. They are new to the wakeboarding world but believe me once you ride behind them there is no going back to your can speakers. Check out the website www.liquidacoustics.com As you know hearing is believing so you should check out their demo days. They'll demo the speakers for from their boat as you ride. Can you get any better than that?

I hate to further Kole's hi-jack, but I have to comment on the liquid acoustic speakers. They are pricey!! $1250 each for the tower speakers. That's $2500 a pair. I have a hard time believing they sound as good as my pair of Entity 1010s, let alone so much better that their worth another $600.

The Liquid Acoustic tower speaker has got to be the ugliest looking thing I've ever seen for a tower speaker IMO.

^^^^^ I'll second that...horrible design. PVC pipe would have looked better.

you can't call LA a horrible design. if you want to call them ugly, that your opinion.but the design is second to none.they are the only US patented boat speaker enclosure out right now. I have installed many boat systems over the years and none have been as simple, efficient, or sound as good as liquid acoustics.. I guess that's just function over form.

^^^^^^ sorry, I meant ugly design.

To each his own, I guess. Someone must like that look found on the Liquid Acoustics otherwise MB would be out of business. Liquid Acoustic speakers would look perfect on a flame throwing MB!

"I guess that's just function over form."

Their not selling buicks to retiree's...there selling tower speakers to a demographic that needs "form" too.

http://www.liquidacoustics.com/wind_technology.htm

This sounds like a bunch of marketing hype...who rides behind a boat at 40mph????? wind technologhy...lol

The Liquid Acoustics tower speakers have definately caused some buzz in the industry. They do look completely different than any other company on the market. If your going for sound quality, they are unbeatable. You just can't get the same sound from a can than you can from a box.

Everyone thought the original "bell shape" on the water skis were wierd looking and they ended up being the most functional design. This could be the same thing.

It's a box with flames on it. No other company would even think to create something so ugly. Sorry, but they could be the best sounding speakers on the market, but they need to match peoples' boats/towers.
