ok, i've read through some of the progressive edging topics and I still don't know if I'm supose to be jumping when i hit the wake or just standing tall and holding on for the ride.
Could also use some tips on getting big air in general

BEND AT THE KNEES!!! just standing does jack, you have to bend your knees to get pop. all the people who stay stand up are crazy

I DISAGREE. i used to try to jump at the wake to go higher and i absorbed all the pop the wake was giving me. Once i lefy legs relatively straight and cut all the way up the wake, i sailed up and over the wake. definately cut up the wake.

Neither, you have to push off the top of the wake.

yeah, thats right. But how much you bend your knees depends on the trick. But go with that for now.

I talked to a D-up pro who said that instead of popping off the wake, just stand up on it and all the energy will be sent to popping you instead of absorbed

yeah max! hey mrwakeboarder, what's your problem huh!? maybe different people ride different ways. lay off the insults dude.
p.s. you should stand up off the wake and you should get thrown off the lip of the wake. I'm not saying your knees shouldn't be bent, but you should keep a sloid stance up the wake without changing the angle at the knee much.

Every pro I've spoke with, every article I've read, and every instructional video I've watched says to cut through the wake or to stand tall at the wake. None of them say to ollie(jump) off the top of the wake. I would have to say wakeman knows what he is talking about.

You read my mind, rootc. That's exactly what I was gonna say. Every pro says to cut all the way through the wake and to stand tall at the wake. I think the pros know what they're talking about. Besides that, Everyone I ride with does that and I works very well with them and with me.
