Clear lake or Shasta for weeks vacation? We're having some difficulty deciding. We've never been to Clear lake. We'd be staying in a condo at either location (no house boat in other words). Help!

No question about it, go to Shasta... It's big, beautiful and easy to find good water to ride in. If you like camping, you can boat in camp and get a way from the world without at houseboat. It's awesome!

Clear Lake is big, windy, shallow and as the weather gets hotter, the water grows alegea and turns green.

Clear lake sucks big time. The lake smells like the low tide and will make your boat stink for weeks. At least that has been my experience with that lake. Shast is great, big and sweet water to be found most all the time.

CLear lake

Ya right thats the pig calling chicken fat..

I would not put my enemies boat in that water. Renee,CIE, and Brannon hit it on the head...

On a scale of 1 to 10

Clear Lake would be a 2

Shasta is a 9.5 IMHO

Douglas- I think you got your answer.

To be far though... Clear Lake can be very nice and the people that live/grew up there will defend it until they are blue in the face. But it' miss. Your best bet anytime of the year is Shasta.

Good luck and have fun!

How would you rate DELTA vs CLEARLAKE?

Good Point. At least you can find flat water in th Delta... Clear Lake not so much.

Douglas,

It all depends on what you are going to either lake for? if you are going with family to hang out, vacation, relax, your going to have fun at either or. If your going to go for nonestop 8 hours a day wakeboarding, then shasta will prolly be better. We went to Clearlake for memorial weekend and had a great time. Water was glassy in the AM and there were plenty of other things to do around the area. There are really nice wineries to check out, Konocti has a nice resort, and its a HUGE lake to explore around.

GD brings out a really good point with the delta.. Clear lake is 100x times cleaner than the delta. But everyone seems to love the delta for the glassy water despite everything in it. So arguing that ClearLake is because of the dirty water is kinda BS..

Ooohhh, no brainer... Shasta!!! Clear Lake is like drinking toilet water and Shasta is like fine wine.

I didn't even take my 1988 Seaswirl to Clear Lake, and you couldn't pay me to take my new boat to Clear Lake!
