Hey guys!! I'm new here, but I've been wakeboarding/waterskiing/barefooting for a while.

I'm wanting to try Wakesurfing and was wondering how to best weigh my boat down and what board would be the best?

Thanks for the help!

I don't think they made an XTi in 2000? Either that or I'm getting old. Is it the 21' or 23'? They are tough boats to weight. Put lots of sacks in the port side walkthru area and on the floor and seats in the back.

we have an xti and it is incredibly hard to get a decent wave. even with almost 1200 lbs we still cant go ropeless. just load it down with as much weight as possible and see what happens

Seriously FILL the back with water. As in a queen waterbed mattress, and no room for people. I've seen a great surf wake behind a 23', but it took a LOT of weight.

Thanks...I'll just start playing around with it and see what works best.

2000...I'm thinking about getting the Launch Pad 725 and putting it on whatever side works best for me, along with a 440 pounder on the same side and 350 in the front. I'll also put the wedge down.

I think the XTI has the diamond hull that is much harder to sink so better for skiing while worse for wake/surf boarding.

It all depends on what you want to optimize. I would NEVER consider it.

Well I already had the Sunsetter when I started wakeboarding, and didn't see the point in dropping another 40 or 50k on a new one. So I'll just have to try and make it work.

I am almost positive they didn't make the XTi until like 2004. The 23' came out first, then the 21' a year or two later. Am I getting senile?

Trace,

You might be thinking of the Wakesetter XTi. Malibu started making the Sunsetter XTi in the late 90's (not sure of the exact date) when wakeboarding first started getting popular. I think it was one of the first "crossover" boats, but was geared more toward skiing. With the wedge down and fully sacked out it makes a pretty nice wake, granted its not HUGE like some today. In my opinion after a wake gets a certain size it just gets to big. With around 1500 lbs plus the wedge, it will through a wake comparable to my friends Sanger 215.

Sorry I went off onto a little side side lecture.

OK, so does this boat have the odd seating configuration?

WOW! Ok...so I went out to the barn and looked. Its an LXi...So I officially feel like a dumb @$$...I can't believe I dont even know my own boat...is 20 to young to start alzheimers?

Trace,
Your right! Sorry about that! Geez

Haha, no prob bro. Now that we have that established - the LXi is a diamond hull and will take some weight, but it'll be easier to deal with than the XTi with its weird seating. I haven't spent a whole lot of time in that boat, so I'll let someone with more experience chime in.
