Just wondering who all is going and what the agenda is for the weekend. Some friends and I have booked a room at the holiday inn downtown which is suppose to be close to all the action.

Also, where is the video premier (sponsored by Liquid Force) suppose to be held?

Is the site a river, and is there a current?

Peter, this is Phil Aslingers dad. The site is a river (very upper end of Fort Loudon Lake) current is very light typically less than 1mph.
Past local wakeboarding tournaments have been between the 2 bridges. They could move this to the left. I marked both with a red line.

Hows the bank? Beach or walls? Rollback?
Old     (mobv)      Join Date: Jun 2002       06-23-2009, 12:12 PM Reply
the spectator side is a concrete wall, definately some roll back. At the local events I been to they have trouble controlling boat and PWC traffic. Maybe the tour can post more signs and patrol boats to help. This is a open river controlled by TVA and the Core of Engineers. They have to allow commercial traffic (barge)through. There is not much barge traffic that far up stream but some. Fort Louden is the most upstream lock on the Tennessee River.

This site will not have the best water quality on the tour.

ok, stupid question, do you need tickets for the Box of Fun premier or just show up?
Old     (jasonba1)      Join Date: Apr 2008       06-23-2009, 3:23 PM Reply
No you dont need tickets for the movie premier as far as I have been told. I actually just got done having a meeting with the setup crew of PWT and the city of Knoxville. They want as many boats down there as possible. If you come by boat just make sure you raft off on the south side by the hospital. So come by land or boat we r looking forward to seeing everyone.

Sounds a lot like Kelona- yuck. Random rollers does not make a good tournament.

Chad,

Not planning on taking a boat. I also heard that Calhoun's might be a good place to watch. After that, we plan on hitting up the Cider House/Valarium for the after party. See you there.

my buddy lives there. he rides there everyday, literally. he competed in the Pro tour a few years ago. he says normally its glass. i think the promoters are worried about rollers from the spectator boats. so i guess they do not want to take any chances and want a bunch tied off together to prevent any problems before they happen

Hey Michael I have your tickets sorry didnt pay attention to the name. I will see you at wild wings. Wild wing is very easy take I 40 to exit 373 which is campbell station rd. take a left and when you see cracker barrell turn right there on campbell lake rd it is behind cracker barrell and the baymount hotel. If you have any problems give me a call

Can someone please post the location of the best ramp to use near Volunteer Landing?
Old     (jdreiser)      Join Date: Mar 2002       06-25-2009, 1:45 PM Reply
Two locations - Marine naval center on ALCOA highway (129) just a bit west of Volunteer landing and then there is another east of Volunteer landing about 1/2 mile under a viaduct on Riverside.

Does anyone know if Knoxville is a dry city like Pigeon Forge or can you buy beer & liquor there? Were on the way right now and didn't know if we needed to stop before we get there. Thanks!

Knoxville has been great so far! The water quality and drift wood were a bit of a issue yesterday but overall great spot. I will say I liked the beachy feel of Achworth but this venue has a good set up. Oh and if you get a chance to stay at the host hotel..... Do it! These guys are fun as hell to party with!
