Recently sold my Cobalt 220 and bought a 2007 VLX and it wasn't until after the sale that I realized that it did not have a kill switch lanyard. Is this typical of tow boats? I am new to this type of boat. I welcome any comments. Thanks.

My 06 has one. My previous 1998 had one.

On another site, someone posted that CA was making it mandatory on all boats. Dont know if this meant all NEW or ALL.

My 2005 Vride has one.

I can understand using one on a PWC. But does anyone really use a dead man switch in an inboard, much less a wakeboard boat?

Robert, how's it going? Can't wait to come over and ride behind the great pumpkin boat . Surely your new bu should've had one. I thought it was mandated by the coast guard (or NMMA or somebody). Contact your dealer. He should provide you with one (Of course, maybe bu's are different. My Enzo definitely has one). Talk to you guys soon.

All boats should have them. Do people use them...Probably not. Should we all use them...Probably so. I have heard of people getting knocked out while driving alone, and getting thrown out, but I don't use mine. I hope nothing ever happens. Luck of the draw I guess.

Thanks for all of the comments. I agree with Cole, we should all use them. Recently a man was thrown from his boat in Little Rock and was not using his kill switch. The coast guard had to board a moving boat. It was found doing high speed circles - very dangerous for the Coast Guard. They still have not found the man and quite honestly are not real sure where he went in or how far the boat traveled before it began circling. Very sad situation.

Pat, good to hear from you too. I am enjoying my day off. Michelle and I are getting very anxious to get back on the water. The boat show this past weekend just made it worse. Dr. Love is getting his new Enzo all tricked out with completely new stereo equipment. He ended up going Wet Sounds for all of his speakers. He is also putting the Wet Sounds EQ in. Should be pretty rediculous! Can't wait to hear it. We'll talk soon.

Check your state regs. Usually required on shorter length boats.
