well i just ordered the rest of the stuff for my stereo. im not looking to set any decibel records just have a small system. my set up is this, set of boss 530's @ 2 ohms, rockford p6002 which says it will push 300 rms @ 2 ohms, clarion 7 band eq with 7 volt preamp outs and my mp3 player. im not gonna use a hu.
question. it has come up that the $24 wiring kit at wally world seem to be a good deal. 5 guage power wire and 8 or 10(dont remember) guage ground. does the ground need to be the same guage as the power wire? thanks alan

the bigger the wire the better... for my truck i ran 4 guage for both, but i dont see why it wouldnt work for you, a few things to check are.
a)the connections (ends) are soldered and not crimped (even more important with the moisture of a boat)

b)that your ground wire will be long enough in a vehicle the ground only needs to be a few feet long and youll probably need more than that to find a good ground

0 ga/2 ga/4 ga is dependant upon length and amp pull. there is a formula available, would check some car amp man. sites...

but as a whole, blair is correct - bigger is better. and the negative should be the same ga.
.
from what is sounds like, 4 ga should be fine.
