If you are just starting to ride I wouldn't be worried about hitting sliders yet.

presuure treated wood, 2" pvc pipe, we found the floats on shore and just "borrowed" them, use anchors to hold it in place

Im currently looking for two old "toons" off an unwanted Pontoon boat, then I will build the best floating/trailerable A Frame.
