He died in his sleep from a bad reaction to medication. Very tragic.

Wow! At 3:18 Does he do a Air Slim Chance right into a HUGE heel mobe?

Jason, Ive looked at that air trick a hundred times, and it looks to me like a Blind (BS) air slim chance. Insane.

I had the pleasure of watching him ride from in the boat just a little bit after he arrived in the states for the first time. It was really amazing how big the kid went. He did some stuff I have still never seen anyone do and I believe he was around 16 at the time. He was amazing to watch ride.

This was the first kid that I seen really ride when I got into Wakeboarding... It was over from there!!!

RIP Kenny! Thanks for what you have done for me and the sport...

Yeah that was a blind Front mobe into a huge switch heel mobe. To me the craziest trick was his 90210. RIP Mark

My buddy used to ride with Kenney back at the cable park they had in NC. He would always mention Kenney's 1080

RIP BROTHER!!!!

Wakeboarding lost some true talent when Mark Passed.

Another amazing rider that people forget about is Corey Kraut very often referred to as the inventor of the "Monkey Spin," or the TS Off Axis 5.

RIP fallen Brothers!

Corey passed away in 01 if I remember correctly on a lake that connects to mine. That was when I was really getting big into the sport and it definately hit close to home

Yeah, Cordell is another one of those sad stories where he wasn't wearing a life jacket. He would still be monkey spinning on the Delta if he had his vest on. Sucks...

every time i look at that pic i think "man, that is a super small wake compared to todays wakes"...no double up...just skillz.

I still have the Cordell article that came out in the San Fransisco paper. It is 3 full pages. He was such a cool guy, it is tragic what happened to him.

I am with WakeViolator, imagine what Kenney would be doing with bigger wakes and the other improvements that they have made to boards/bindings. I think he is riding the original Absolute shape there right?
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       12-31-2009, 12:33 PM Reply
Yeah the original Absolute and the Apex boots which were complete junk.

I know I've said this on here before but...a couple years back I was talking to Andrew Adkison about his first season on tour and the last event at Irvine. We were reminiscing on Mark's final run and how huge he went on that switch mobe. It was fun to see a competitor say that he got robbed of the win.

that picture is insane. how he got that much height off that wake sans double up is mind blowing. I dont understand how thats possible.
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       12-31-2009, 5:47 PM Reply
Obviously it was stitched together using Photoshop or something along those lines. I think what they did is used the wake from the first frame and then added the rider to the same background. So he did indeed go that big, but it wasn't wake to wake. He actually landed that thing way out in the flats.

what a great guy mark Kenney was, I can remember the first time I met him was in Newcastle at a wakeboard event he was 13 or 14yrs old. he had the biggest smile on his face.
My son idolised him, at the nationals in australia in 2002 my son followed mark everywhere.
He just wanted to watch him ride. he could do nothing but talk about mark, and how he was going to ride like him one day. To Mark thank you for being an inspiration to my son Harley.
You are sadly missed and will never be forgotten

I was at the Irvine event and HE got robbed big time. I think they gave it to Ruck but it was not even close. There were no sliders that day just w2w the way Mark liked it and his run was clearly better than all the others.
