Does anyone know where I can get an led anchor light for my tower? A couple of my buddies, x-2's came with them and I see you can order them from mastercraft but I think they only work on the mastercraft towers. If I can't get a whole light assembly has anybody seen a good led assembly that would work? I don't mind doing fabricating. Thanks.

have you tried West Marine?

I just checked west marine, and they have one that I could take the lights out and modify for $100, the mastercraft one is $90, so the mastercraft one might be the way to go.

i believe both Neil Fett and Rod_R on malibuboatowners.com are working on building them, but i don't think either of them have a finished design.

i messed around with designing one, but ended up just buying & modifying a regular flip-up anchor light instead, and mounted it to the front bar, in front of the tow spool. not as trick, but MUCH easier. will post a pic later if i get around to it.

here are a couple shots. the tower is laid down, but i think you'll get the idea. i remembered another reason i decided to go this way - branches hit my tower somtimes while towing, and i would be pretty pissed if the light on top got broken, and it would likely be hard to replace.

That looks nice trace, is that a light from west marine?

i think i got it a Wal Mart. it was taller, but i took it apart and cut the veritcal tube shorter so it'd fit between the bars.

Trace, did the unit come with the rotating mount?

Here's what I'm going to get this year and just stick it on top of the tow spool when I need it.

Don't get that suction cup light - I used those on my Hobie - they need a nice flat surface and then tend to fall off.

yes, it came with the rotating mount. it's sort of an indexed hinge with a big oven knob thumbscrew to tighten it down where you want it to stay.

I have finished my Anchor light but im in the process of looking for funding to complete the project. I know its going to be worth the time and the money, now I just have to find some good investors or a good business partner.

That light, I'm guessing a prototype, looks great Neil!

Does the MC light fold with or without a wing nut? How is it mounted. Bolted to or around the tower?

The MC light is part of the towing point. It is the top half above where you attach the rope.

Mastercraft has a patent on the tow hook with the built in light.

Samson Sports makes a light just like the mc for their towers.

Oh yeah and it costs $90, I think it might work for any tower, but you would have to call and ask for sure. www.samsonsports.com

FWIW, i riveted mine to my tower. much prefer rivets to any type of threaded fastener for blind holes like that, esp on something that vibrates.

Yeah like I say you might have to call them. I was just at their shop yesterday (had my tower installed) and saw a tower with the light on it, now I want one. They are nice folks so I'm sure they can e-mail you a pic.

Supra has it built in as well... My 03' had a flip up light, but this one is built right in.
Tough to see in this pic, but you can see it up there
