I need a solid DVD Ripper - I am ok with paying for it but I need it in a usable format like mpeg or H.264. Would like it if I could burn to DVD from DVD (copy) as well.

Any recommendations? Hard to cut through all the BS online.

Magic DVD Ripper is what I paid for and it's pretty solid and easy.

I tried the MKV one before this post but it saves it as a .mkv file which I don't know what to do with. I will check out the others. Thanks guys. I would prefer to rip the DVD and watch it on Windows Media Player. This shouldnt be this difficult right?

Sounds like you need the codec to play on WMP?

Or, once you have it ripped as an MKV, use handbrake to convert the file to h264/mp4 and you are off to the races. IIRC, WMP has mp4 codec built in.

Best player I've found if watching on a computer is VLC. It just works, lots of options if you care to tweak it, and plays just about everything without searching for the correct codec.

.MKV files are generally HD video. Any newer player should be able to play them. I think .MP4 has as good or better quality and everything plays them.
