I just traded 4 days at my ski home for a week at someone's condo in Maui. I can use it anytime this year. The condo is in Kihei. I have been to Maui twice with a past girlfriend but never when I was single, like I am now. I am considering taking the trip this late winter/early spring with a buddy. We are going to surf and play golf during the day so we have no worries staying busy during the day. But what about at night? I am a moderate partier. I don't need a big party scene but I think we may go crazy if there is no nightlife.

I thought the WW community may be able to give me some insight on this one. Anyone have any thoughts? Anyone been to Maui as a single guy with other guys and stayed in the Kihei/Wailea area and have any input? I know there is some nightlife in Kaanapali and Lahaina but we aren't going to want to be driving all over that island at night.

My other options are to put the trip in my back pocket until I have a girlfriend, take the trip by myself at a time when I really just want to chill out, or give it to my parents.

In Wailea, Mulligans can have a good crowd, esp. on weekends. In south Kihei behind the open air market with the roof is "barmuda triangle", not sure what 3 bars are there right now but there is usually a good crowd in those places also.

I've always gone with girlfriends and never end up getting to golf very much, end up sitting by the pool, shopping, blah, blah, blah... I think it would be blast to go with a buddy or two and surf, scuba, golf, and drink lots of primos. There are single girls in Kihei, you just have find them.

I've stayed in Kihei but it was in 1997, so I'm pretty sure I really can't help you with the singles scene in 2010.
Last I remember night life died down @10pm.

Thanks guys. Shane, I hear you on not getting to do what you want when you go with a girlfriend. The times I went with a girlfriend, I got some surfing in but not as much as I would have liked and I didn't golf at all. Like I said in my original post, we don't need alot of night life, so it it sounds like we will have all that we need. Gotta get to the driving range so I don't hack up the Kapalua course!
