I thought I remember seeing a diagram of the right/wrong way to drive the double up. Any idea where it is?

I meant on here somewhere. What's the turning radius? Tight turn? Big, wide loop?

I suppose I could dust off Detention, but...

Abe, thanks for the response, BTW.

there is no right way...but there is a wrong way...

Never cross the double up rollers at more than 90 degrees. Shaun Murray says, "Just don't do it, just don't do it."

90 degree crossin will make steeper peaks thus throwing you higher. Plus I think they are harder to hit.

60 degrees is a good place to start. Still nice and big, but easier to hit and to get used to. They'll still get you up there, but you dont have to make a helluva cut to get over both wakes.

I like the 60 degree ones myself, 2nd or 3rd roller depending on how brave i feel. :-)

I think turning radious all depends on your boat. Sometimes making a tight turn makes the prop cavitate, thus losing speed. It's preferred to make a larger loop in order to ensure you cross the double up rollers at the right speed and right angle. However, space is sometimes limited.

You should also accelerate a bit into the turn b/c you will lose speed in the turn. And its easier to slow down to the correct speed than it is to speed up to it.

that's no diagram, but i hope it helps.

Swass, Last wed Eric drove a double up in Todds boat and it looked fairly easy. As for the boarder, timing is everything. Take off with us wed or thurs after work and he will show you how. Double ups are more important then a paycheck. Right?
