hey guys

has anyone added a sort of backing plate to their platform to protect the boat from people smashing it when putting their boards on? I'm going to be sanding and re-oiling the platform right away and thought this would be a perfect time to do it. what kind of wood did you use and if the new wood is stained with the teak oil with the color match up?

thanks

I know its an option for Mastercrafts and Im sure the other companies offer it as well. It is another piece of teak on mine. Oh the mod i made to mine was carriage bolts! That sucker isn't coming off again.

shawn, did that come from the manufacture or did you add that on yourself? looks nice

does home depot or other building centers carry teak or would i have to go to a specialty shop for it?

you will not find any teak at HD, hardwood specialty
stores will carry it.

That teak backing plate is cool! I love how my teak step looks. And i really dont mind the scratches on top they go away after oiling...but banging up the transom is a no-no!

Owl lumber here in Lombard, IL had the teak. I built the transom saver myself. The Wakesetter logo was burned in. I had more time on my hands back then.

Kick plate and riser blocks:

I used UHMW because I'm cheap and lazy, but teak would be basically the same process.

I made one out of teak. Had to find a specialty store that carried teak wood. Cost $100 and a few hours work.
